At Dance Captures, we understand the importance of capturing the perfect moment in dance. We know the posing, lighting, and composition needed to create breathtaking images that capture the essence of each dance style. Our goal is to provide our clients with dance photography that showcases their strength, talent and dedication to dance.
We specialise in capturing performances, rehearsals, competitions and studio portrait sessions, and we work with dancers of all levels and backgrounds.

Hi! I’m Lucy. I am truly passionate about capturing the magic of movement through my camera lens. Being trained in a variety of dance styles including contemporary, ballet, jazz (and in recent years pole and lyra), it only felt natural that dancers would be what I loved photographing most.
Although my dance photography journey began many years prior, in 2021 I began studying a Diploma of Photography and Photo Imaging. It was during this course that I absolutely fell in love with the studio side of photography and have been obsessed with it ever since.
Fun facts about me!
1. My favourite dance trick will always be a firebird leap! See slideshow to the left 🙂
2. My photography journey began when I was 15 and started with getting my ballet friends to do leaps and jumps in the backyard while I captured them in mid-air. The rest is history!
3. Aside from photography, I absolutely love travel. I have lived in Canada and travelled to over 30 countries. My top 3 destinations would have to be Canada (obviously), Iceland and Patagonia. I love areas with huge snowy mountains..
